The Ballet Bible
Discover the Secrets to Conquering Some of The Most Common Pitfalls You Face When Learning Ballet
Too Old For Ballet?I’m 26 years old and have recently returned to ballet alter 4 years of very little dancing. Prior to that I took ballet, very intensely, from 6 to about 18 years old, then less intensely while in college (although I did dance professionally while in college… in Disney) I miss ballet terribly and it’s still a passion I’d like to pursue professionally. I’m back to taking class everyday, including pointe and have regained my abilities faster than I expected. Many of my teachers don’t even believe I stopped for as long as I did because they can’t tell. My question is…. Is it realistic to think I can enter the very “young” world of ballet at this age? I’m thinking about auditioning for a summer program, but half of them don’t allow dancers over 23 to audition! In the real world I don’t feel old, but in the ballet world… well, that’s a different story. Sincerely, Can a little girl ruin her feet ?My 5 year old daughter just started dance about four months ago. SHE LOVES ballet. She spent two hours last Sunday folding cardboard into strips and stuffing it into her slippers trying to make them into point shoes! She really gets up on her toes and insists that demi-pointe is not good enough she has to be on pointe! I have told her that she is not ready for this and can ruin her feet. How worried should I be that this will actually happen ? November 28, 2006 | In Questions | 23 CommentsWhich product is the most helpfulWhich of the following is the most helpful guide?? BALLET BIBLE Exercises for ArabesqueWhat are some exercises for getting a good arabesque? November 25, 2006 | In Questions | 2 CommentsThe Complete Ballet Bible Package is no longer availableI have taken the ballet bible package off the market. If you haven’t purchased it already then you have missed your chance. Now, before you get all worried and stressed out, I do have some good news for you. The good news is that I will be releasing a bigger, better, brighter version in the coming weeks and you will then have another chance to grab your copy of The Complete Ballet Bible Package. The reason I have taken the product off the market now is because… as you may already know, I have been working on a 2nd edition for some time now and it is almost complete… but, I need some time dedicated to getting everything finalized without having to manage orders etc. for the current package. I’m really excited about this new edition. In fact, I have done so much with it that it is almost an entirely new product. I know many people will want to purchase this package before christmas so I am doing my best to get everything ready so I can release it in the next couple of weeks. I have setup a priority notification page where you can put in your details so that you can keep up to date with everything that’s happening. My name is Audrey Elise Underhill, and I go by both first names. I live in Boulder, Colorado, and dance at the Boulder Ballet Academy. I’m 16 years old and have been dancing since I was 10. I would love to do ballet professionally. At school, I do well in languages. I placed second in Colorado and 9th in the nation in the National French Exam last year, and I take Arabic at the university in my town. In ballet, my strengths are adage and turns. My weaknesses are petit allegro and pointe- I have horrible feet and very little point. I’m working on both though! Outside of ballet and school, I don’t do very much because I don’t have much extra time. I dance every day of the work week for anywhere between an hour and a quarter to two and a half hours. Right now I’m dancing on the weekends too because of Nutcracker. When I go to college, I’d like to go somewhere on the East coast with good Arabic and French programs, as well as ballet of course. I’m looking to major in ballet specifically, not just dance, because I know that if I were to major in dance in general I’d have to take other dance classes as well as ballet. I’ve tried all kinds of dance- jazz, modern, hip hop, Irish step, and others- but ballet is the only one I enjoy. This is a great site and I’d like to thank everyone who keeps it up and running! You do a great job, and it’s so useful! Have a good day, everyone, and keep dancing. ~Audrey Elise November 20, 2006 | In Members | 9 CommentsBreaking in pointe shoeswhat is the best way to break in pointe shoes? Dear fellow ballet enthusiast, In the ever constant quest to learn more about ballet we come across some interesting characters trying to sell us different products and services to make us better dancers. Wouldn’t you agree? The first time I came across the name Grant Davies was when I received an email from him saying how much he liked my guide called "The 3 Simple Rules of a Prima Ballerina" and that he was going to recommend it to all his dance students. Well, naturally I was excited and emailed back thanking him for his purchase and that I would love for him to recommend my guide. What I never expected to see happen was an immediate flood of orders come in from parents and students who seemed to absolutely love Grant and follow his advice 100% without question. I’m sure you’ll agree with me that when someone has that much impact on people you can’t help but be a little interested in who they are what they are up to. I did a quick search on google to see if anything came up about Grant. I found his website and his ebook called Think Like A Champion, Dance Like A Star. Immediately I purchased it to see what it was all about… Let me tell you, I was absolutely blown away. No wonder this guy has such an impact on people. He is so passionate about dancing and so in tune with what it takes to be a great dancer that it must be hard NOT to want to succeed when you are around him. Now, this book is not about improving your technique, or teaching you how to dance. It is totally different and definitely something essential for every dancer whether beginner or pro! In Grant’s own words - My book is about inspring you to improve. Making you think. Making you think about "YOU". Exciting you. Encouraging discussion. Helping you to have FUN in what you love. Helping you love what is so much fun… DANCING! So, why am I telling you about this? To be honest it’s about high time I repaid Grant the favor as time and time again he has recommended my guide to his dancers, but also because results speak for themselves, and as you’ll see, Grant has benefited the lives of so many dancers already that it would be wrong of me to not at least give you the chance to check it out for yourself. I’ll give you the url to check it out in a second, but first I want to sweeten the deal on Grant’s ebook by offering you some exclusive bonuses when you purchase through my link.
