Discover the Secrets to Conquering Some of The Most Common Pitfalls You Face When Learning Ballet
Dyspraxia is effecting my daughters dancingMy daughter is 12 and has dyspraxia but regardless she continually struggles to be as good as her friends, she loves ballet so much and it can sometimes seem unfair to the amount effort she puts in to the achievment she reaches which then affects her confidence and self esteem and makes things worse. She has been dancing since she was five and is in grade 4 ISTD. Most of her friends are soon going on pointe but I am really worried that this will knock her confidence as I know she will find it difficult. Building confidence being the reason she started dance in the first place but lately seems to be backfiring, She also takes classes in tap and modern dance. Is there hope for her or should I persuade her to give up what she loves most? please help a parent that only wants what is best for her child. November 12, 2006 | In Questions | 3 CommentsBecoming a Dance InstructorHey! Im 15 and I have started taking ballet again after not taking it for 2 years. I have previously taken ballet for 2 years and was going to go on pointe. I have also taken tap, modern, and jazz. When i previously took dancing, i wanted to become a dance instructor and possibly even start my own studio. So considering my age and the amount of training i have (3 years total) what are my chances of becoming a dance instructor? November 5, 2006 | In Questions | 4 Commentsbulky musclesI had a teacher who told me that ‘we want to develop nice, long, dancer legs, not big, bumpy legs’ and from pictures I’ve seen of different professionals, I’d say some of them have ‘bumpy’ muscles and a lot of them don’t… especially the principal dancers and I was wondering how to avoid developing those ‘bumpy muscles’ and how to develop the ‘long’ muscles instead or something like that. November 4, 2006 | In Questions | 6 CommentsLeaning on little toes en pointeI have been dancing en pointe for a little over a year. I just got my second pair of shoes and im starting to break them in. My first pair were broken in wrong–I had been leaning on my little toes instead of my second big toe like my dance teacher says. I wanted to know if anyone had any tips on how to break them in right and stay off of my little toes!? thanks!! November 3, 2006 | In Questions | 4 CommentsPetit Battma or “beats”Hi, in my class I’m having a lot of trouble with beats. At the barre my teacher usually puts beats at the ankle in with frappes, and I can do those fine, but when we get to center and we’re supposed to do assembles or petit jetes with a beat, I just…can’t seem to do it. I know I need to jump high, point my feet and straighten my legs, but I still just can’t seem to do them…any pointers? |
