Discover the Secrets to Conquering Some of The Most Common Pitfalls You Face When Learning Ballet
Ballet Bible Affiliate ProgramHi Everyone, I have put up a page with information on how to get involved with the Ballet Bible affiliate program. This page should cover pretty much everything and detail how to get started. You don’t have to do anything major to get involved. Just start with small things and see how you go. You can include your affiliate link in forum signatures, send a quick email to your friends, put a link on your personal web page etc. I am interested to know how I can help you and what resources I can develop to help increase your earnings, so don’t hesitate to contact me or leave a comment if you have some ideas. Here’s the link. http://www.ballet-bible.com/affiliates.html Thanks and Good Luck, Anita Leembruggen January 18, 2007 | In General | No CommentsCounting musicHi, Some people (and I count myself in) don’t find it particularly easy to count the music. I’d like to take another class but am still undecided as to what I like. I’ll ask my instructor of course and plan of visiting a couple of classes when we have open-days, but I thought it would be interesting to hear what you guys think would be a good 2nd option and why. Could someone also translate the terminology to me (I’m not quite clear on what is meant by contemporary dance, modern dance, jazz, placement, musical, jazz musical, etc). Thanks for enlightening me! Height / weightHi, In a couple of posts, people refer to being overweight, losing weight, etc. I was just wondering, what do you think is a “good” weight for a non-professional dancer? If you take the Body Mass Index as a rule of thumb, 20-25 is considered healthy, over 25 overweight and under 20 could mean being underweight. I was wondering if there is a point where healthy for a non-dancer and healthy for a dancer would contradict, if you know what I mean. Stopping now, before I confuse myself along with everyone else. I’ve been out of dance for about a year and I’m losing my flexibility too. What are some good excercises to help my arch and get my flexibility back? Also has anyone heard of prima soft elastic ribbons. They’re supposed to prevent tendonitis since they’re stretchy, but I wonder if they “give” to much and aren’t supporting my foot enough. January 15, 2007 | In Questions | 9 CommentsIs it really vital to do streches to improve my ballet dancingIm 13 and have been dancing since I was 2 or 3. I do ballet, jazz and tap. Everthing I read says you must stretch. To me this is a problem as my phisiotherapist said I must not strech under any circumstances. If i do this I wil snap my ligaments. Is it really vital to do streches to improve my ballet dancing??? Flat feet and bad turnoutI have flat feet and bad turnout. I always get so frustrated in ballet because I feel that is something I cant really fix. When I stand in fifth position and try to turn out the best I can, my feet roll in, so then when I make an arch it forces my fifth to get even worse. It hurts my hips and knees to stand like that. Is there anything I can do to impove my turnout and feet without causing injury? thanks January 15, 2007 | In Questions | 24 CommentsStarting ballet againIn November 2005 I moved. The last time I had taken ballet was earlier that summer. Since then, I have not found a studio to take ballet at, being busy with colorguard(“girls twirling flags” with the marching band) and homework. Now 14, I really would like to start again. There’s so much I don’t remember, and I’m not being humble when I say I was never any good, because I wasn’t. I’m just wondering how to go about finding a good studio. Also, I was wondering if I should take private lessons, to catch up and get better. One problem though is that my family doesn’t really have a lot of extra money right now. Are private lessons a good idea? I really have no idea about how much time is good (how many days a week/how long) or, well anything. I hope this wasn’t too confusing!
