Therabands are a very good way to strengthen your ankles. Before going en pointe I used them every day for a half hour-45 mins

What I have heard helps is if you are in school or at the computer it help strengthen your arches if you tap your feet. Always raise up the heel of your foot, raising the toes and balls of your feet isn't as effective (for me).

hi!!
You will have to strength the muscles around your ankles to get them stronger... one of my favorite excerises (because its really effective)is heel raises just stand in pararell and raise your heel to demi-pointe ten times, do it turned in, do it turned out then do the same thing on each foot... dont forget to streatch you muscles afterward...if you do this at least two times a day you will see a huge difference... but its not easy so just make sure u are not cheating lol :D ...
oh and congradulations that your going on pointe soon

The best exercises I would suggest would be rises. This can be done individually on each foot, together, in parralel and in first position. Do them slowly and atleast 20-30 rises each time. Another suggestion would be to walk around on the balls of your feet with your legs completley streched for as long as you possibly can as this would buid up your strength in your ankles and create a nice point.
Hope this helps,
Martina

If your ankles need strengthening you might consider getting ankle weights (not more than 2 pounds) and doing tendus, foot circles, flexes and points, and releves with them on. However do not limit your attention to your feet and ankles. Continue to work on your stomach and back muscles as they are the ones that will aid you in lifting your weight off your feet.
