BIG thighs are no good for Ballet

How can I obtain small thighs?

inner thighs and outer thighs.

HELP!!

  1. First, are you mostly made of muscle or fat? If it’s muscle you need to stretch and pay attention to your technique. If you let your knees bend or be loose when you close tendus and battement jetes, or have a saggy knee on your supporting leg, this tends to force the thigh muscles to increase because you are not pulling your muscles up.

    If it’s fat you need to lose it. Good exercise for this is walking (at least 40 min a day), sports like tennis (have a look at tennis player’s legs, most of them are long and lean). And follow a sane diet that allows you to lose about a pound and a half a week.

  2. Is this mainly for aesthetics or is it interfering with your form? Thigh muscle is very could to build, generally, I wouldn’t advocate reducing them. Thigh fat on the other hand, go ahead. Just lower body fat in a sane (non anorexic) way through smart nutrition and caloric intake and exercise.

    Interestingly enough muscle burns fat (even passively) so any leg muscle you have would help with that, since leg muscles are some of the largest you have. You could focus on building muscle in other areas though if you really want leg reduction.

  3. The normal progression of a ballet class promotes long lean muscles. Check your technique as Zoe mentioned and check out Pilates which is a good body sculpting program.

    If you live in a town with a Pilates Studio i would suggest to have a go at a class. I work at a Pilates Studio and have some great exercises for thighs. Hard to explain but if you like i can get you some exercise sheets.
