Discover the Secrets to Conquering Some of The Most Common Pitfalls You Face When Learning Ballet
BLUE TOES !I have been getting very bruised toes and toe nails from ballet. The thing is I’m NOT even on pointe yet. Should I try padding my shoes? I remember a girl once put folded handee towls in her shoes. Would that work ? April 21, 2007 | In Questions | 3 Comments3 Comments »RSS feed for comments on this post. No, that won’t work. Get pointe shoe toe pads.

Hi there, I cant quite understand why you are getting bruised toes if you aren’t on pointe.
One suggestion is that you are putting wieght on your working leg – the one that is pointed, on the ground. Your wieght should be forward over your supporting leg, and there should be no weight on your pointed toes.
I would ask your teacher what you are doing that is causing this. Although you can pad your shoes, there may be a more serious reason, which could lead to injury.

Is it possible that your shoes are too small? I know some girls who’ve had that problem because of shoes that are too small, or shoes that are the wrong shape for their type of feet.
