go see a doctor. if it's still hurting after a couple of months, then you are probably making it worse by not treating it.

its STILL hurting after a couple of months? if is wasnt serious, the pain probably would have gone away within a few days. you really should see a doctor! how exactly does it hurt? like a bruise, or on the flesh or is it deep down like you have fractured something? and can you pinpoint where the pain is coming from or is it all over? and is the pain constent or just when you try and bend over, and is it sharp stining or aching? maybe you have fractured a bit of rib or something... definantly tell your mum or someone at the program as soon as possible.

Ok it's been a couple of months since that happened and most of the pain on my right side has gone away but the pain on my left side is still awful and now it hurts to put my head down. Like my spine is really sore. And since I'm at a summer program I can't really go any where for help and I'm scared to put icy-hot on my neck what can I do to help this?

Wow. If you guys want to be dancers you'd better take care of yourselves! Your body is your instrument etc. etc. It will carry you farther if you exercise it hard but artfully!

You definitely need to see a health practitioner, as a dance teacher I recommend a chiropractor. Firstly, he or she will tell if there are misalignments caused by the impact of your accident. Usually this is not expensive, adjustments can be made to your bones, and home care can be advised. Icing is always good. You must tell your mother. Just tell her you had an accident. If needed you will have an x-ray - but it is more likely hurt muscles and misalignments - who knows, I'm only saying that to persuade you to tell your mom and your teacher what has happened. It is not going to "go away" by itself. You did a foolish thing - who hasn't? Take care of it -that's the wise fololw up.

you really do need to tell your mom , im 14 and my mom loves to everything thats happening in my life, your mom wont get mad if you tell her because she will be glad you told her in the first place !!! then you can go see a doctor and get the pain sorted out rather dance through it

if you dont feel comfortable telling your mom you could always tell your dance teacher ! its suprising how much of a help they can be when you need them, your dance teacher will have been through many injuries and will know how to help you with it !!

i hope my advice helps xxx

Tell your mother, see a doctor and don't make it worse by dancing with an injury that you don't know the extent of. You are just plain flat out lucky you didn't break any bones.

I hope when you start partnering live bodies you will remember this experience.

go see a doctor, and rest. you need to heal. if your mom is anything like mine you will get a stern lecture about doing something so stupid, but its just because your mom loves you so much that you being hurt really upsets her.

As a mum and a dance teacher. I think it would be a very wise move to approach your mum and explain what you were trying to do and what happened. Explain that you wont be doing anything silly like that again, and you would like her to come with you to see a doctor. Are you still dancing with this injury?
If so I hope you have told your teacher that you have hurt your back.
Good Luck, and remember we all do silly things, but I hope you have learnt a lesson from this one.

Val said it all...
I don't think you'll get a reply from anyone here that will tell you to just ignore what happened.
I would also suggest talking to your mother and being honest about what happened would be my first option, but I don't know your mother, of course.
If you really don't want to tell her, is there anyway you could go and see a doctor by yourself (I don't know how old you are)?
Or just tell her you fell and don't say you were jumping on the barre if you really think sher would freak-out.
Though I must admit that most daughters underestimate what their mothers can take without getting really angry and unfair.
Only don't expect her to be happy about what you did, but she might think you're punished enough by the experience itself. My mum would've anyway...

jumping on a barre wasn't a wise decision. You may not weigh anything near three hundred pounds, but the additional momentum (force) from the jump could have matched or surpassed it. Tell your mother. Yes, it was irresponsible, and ignoring injuries could potentially get worse.
