  1. If you’ve been learning jazz for five years, you could probably be a professional jazz/musicals dancer; if you have not taken any ballet then at this point, it is doubtful if a career in ballet is a wise choice. You might try contacting some theatre-oriented colleges and universities in the United States on either the east or west coast and see if they have advice (check Dance Magazine for lists of schools). You would also have to find out about work permits and immigration laws.

    Good luck!!

  2. Hi ! I hope you don’t do something wrong, but at 21 it is really to lait, I’m sorry. I was self an ballet dancer from age of 16 ( strait from ballet academy ) till 25, then teach ballet and now I’m a mother of one…this is also have to be not later then 30…
I’ve started learn ballet from age of 4, my mum was ballerina, this is why! and I know this job you have to start very jung, when your body is very flexibel and from age of 10 you start professional very-full-time education.
This is only way to get this very importand BASIS in your body, only possible to create on child body. You probably know : Dance is very hard work and there in US are so many “kids” of 18 who already don’t needed any lessons and ready for professional STAGE. There to many professional ballet-schools and they are full of jung tallents.
This is hard, but beter you know the Truth now, before you make any decision, I’m sorry.
But maybe you can dance in some kind semy-professional jazz-group if you really want to be on Stage some day.
In US people spend LOT of money on getting lessons ect……but the truth is – is not to buy probably the best lessons for at tha age, but bee a full developed professional dancer and acter before you reach age of 20….this is what dance companies are looking for!
I hope it didn’t upset you to much now, Dance World can be more worst…

  4. When telling people your opinion that you don’t think they can do something, I believe a little more tact might be called for than in the previous two responses.
