Here we go again… en pointé

Hi girls!

First of all, I really love this site and all of the advice I get from you :)
My question: I’ve been through 1st class when I was 12 and now I’ve been again through the same class (I’m 21 now). So, I want to keep going and continue in September, but since I’ve already had 2 years of ballet class, I’m really eager to start en pointé. The problem is, I’m in a “hobby ballet class”, not a professional one, so I’m kinda shy about asking my new teacher if she could teach me en pointe, or at least put me into a class where they do it. I’m afraid she’d just laugh at me and remind me that we’re not training to become professional dancers…

But I’m really dying to learn it, ballet is my everything.

Please help!

  2. well, think carefully… if love ballet so much would you rather just keep doing it as a hobby because you are too shy to ask or would you just ask and, well, you never know. if your teacher does laugh at you, leave the studio and find a new one and do some serious classes. you have nothing to loose! good luck! if they say that you are not ready yet, just stay in the class but also do some more serious classes. if you are good enough, then they probably will give you good advice about how to go about it. definantly go for it. and abella – please use nicer language on this site, there are younger kids on it and were all just trying to talk about dance, not read about you swearing at your computer.

  4. I went en pointe after three years of training. ( the three years were after a two year break.) I suggest telling your teacher that you someday would like to go on pointe (your teacher will see determination) and if there was a more serious class you can take. Once in that class for a month or two, ask your teacher if you can go en pointe at the present time or when the new year starts. Good Luck with Pointe!
