I have very bad articulation in my toes. How can I improve?

My toes stay in an almost straight line with the rest of my foot when in the pointed position. I want to be on pointe next year but I dont think thats going to happen in my current situation. Most of the other girls in my class have very flexible feet. Does anyone Know of some good stretches to help improve articulation in my toes?

  1. My physio told me I could do the following stretch to improve my ankle flexibility and “get over” on pointe better:

ONLY when warmed up properly and
    ONLY for 60 seconds and
    ONLY once per day
get onto your knees then sit back on your heels with your ankles flat on the floor, (not with toes tucked under) tuck a rolled up towel under the tops of both feet, (about the top side of the balls of your feet). The more you sit back, the more it stretches your ankles. And the more you can articulate your ankles the better the point.

My physio said I should positivitely see definite improvement within 6 months to a year if I did this once per day.

Good luck and I hope others have suggestions I’d be keen to see

  2. A good exercise for toes is picking up a small cloth ( i use a washcloth) with your toes then releasing it. repeat. hope it helps…
