Discover the Secrets to Conquering Some of The Most Common Pitfalls You Face When Learning Ballet
Judging if you are strong enough for pointe?I read somewhere that if you can do 16 relieves perfectly in center then you are strong enough - is this true? August 28, 2006 | In Questions |4 Comments »RSS feed for comments on this post. TrackBack URI Leave a comment |

Are your knees pulled up, not bagging? Can you stand facing the barre with a couple of fingers on the barre, and press up slowly to pointe wearing soft shoes? Can you pique without bending your knee into a good arabesque on demi-pointe? Is your chest lifted off your hips and your stomach pulled up and in? Are your feet fully pointed at all times? If you are strong enough to do really clean excellent demi pointe then you probably can start pointe. But if anything is sagging or bagging, better work some more.

walking around on demi pointe can help, as for the 16 releves, i have no idea. But do keep working hard on your releves
