Discover the Secrets to Conquering Some of The Most Common Pitfalls You Face When Learning Ballet
LEFT BEHIND!Hi, I am a girl that loves ballet to bits, I cant get enough of watching effortless people fly around stage. I would do anything to be them and be able to be as good. The only thing is im 15 yrs old! I cant find any ballet place around me that will teach my age and the fact I am a complete novice. But I still dream I could one day be as good. I just keep wishing I’d wanted to be one when I was 5 yrs younger! Apart from that I’m a very good weight and I’m 5 foot 4 inches and I have very strong athletic legs and I have quite good balance. I have read so many books but i feel its not enough. Do you think i should get private lessons? but then i would have to pay for it on my own please someone help me i want to be a prfessional dancer, do you think im too old now??? I didn’t start dancing until I was 14– it’s not too late. I know exactly how you feel. Just try and find a studio that has a class for people of around your age at your skill level. Unless private lessons are the only option that you can think of, then they’re probably not necessary. However, you would undoubtedly become better, faster with a private instructor.

Can’t believe you can’t find a school who will teach you just because you are 15. Keep looking. Where do you live?

Hi,
Yes, where are you from?
I know my school even has a special class for late starters who still want to have a go at a professional carreer (well, not really late starters, but teenagers like you) and I can’t believe there’s nothing near you.
@ Anita: maybe this school section you talked about earlier would be helpfull for people looking for schools for specific populations…

hey, I would just refuse to take no for an answer. Don’t be ashamed to be in a class with girls much younger than you, because you can improve quickly and be moved up to classes with girls more your level. Some dance places have “teen” classes which are usually beginners, or if there is a community center near you they might have some classes so you can get basic training. You should be able to find a studio that will at least let you audition, or take a placement class, but dont be discouraged if they place you in a low class for starters. (also, if your planning on going pro, once you have some experience, you might want to make sure you are attending a school with quality training)
