Only Ballet Boarding School

I am 12 3/4 years old and I am interested in going to a dance* boarding school, but I hate other sports like soccer, volleyball, etc. All the schools I have found on Google offer that sort of thing. The school has to be in the U.S. If it’s not, I’ll never convince my parents to let me apply. *I can’t decide if I want it to be all kinds of dance, or just ballet. The Victorian one sounds really nice, but does anyone have personal experience of what it’s like? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

  1. The Kirov Academy in Washington DC is an excellent school, not only for ballet, but academically as well. I sincerely doubt they make you do soccer or anything else like that. Website is at http://www.kirovacademydc.org. It has very high standards both ballet-wise and school-wise. Good luck!

  2. The Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham is a fantastic school. I know many dancers who have gone on to become wonderful professional dancers.

  8. Hey Zoe, I know a girl in my class named Jade that went to the Kirov Academy. She’s only 11 years old and shes in my class! (I’m 14) And now she has been accepted to some summer program in Canada! Of course she’s not the best 11 year old in the world, but she’s REALLY good for her age. I was wondering if you’ve gone there before?

  14. i am 13 and pretty serious about ballet. my parents said i could go to a boarding school for ballet in 9th grade. does anybody have any ideas about what would be a good ballet boariding school for a 13 year old?

    Comment by Lily — July 3, 2008 #

  15. As you would probably know if you were serious about ballet , theres The Royal Ballet School , in London , the only way you can get in is by being very good at ballet , The standards are very high and they only take in about 24 people a year out of 10ns of thousands that audition , However , there are assosiate programs that are still hard to get into but would do great good , you should adition x
