Pointe ProblemMy pointe shoe is already broken in, however, I still can’t go onto full pointe without forcing it what should I do? October 26, 2006 | In Questions |4 Comments »RSS feed for comments on this post. TrackBack URI Leave a comment |

You probably just need to work on your ankle strength. Practice rolling up on pointe and balancing.

Like Karalyn said - it’s most likely ankle strength. Releve, releve, releve… and releve absolutely everywhere, too, not just in class or during the time you’ve set aside for practice. Releve to demi-pointe while you’re waiting in line at the shopping centres, while you’re on the phone, while you’re in front of the refrigerator deciding what to eat… anywhere and everywhere.
Also, do the ‘point and flex’ exercise - point and flex your feet, really concentrating on getting the strongest point possible. You can do this everywhere as well.

it could also be the shape of your foot and ankle. I’ve had similar problems because I just don’t have the ankle rotation and arches to easily go up on point. I found that a different point shoe was the only thing that helped. I use capezio glises, they have a tapered shank and more of a corner on the edge of the box. the key is to try a lot of different brand unlit you find the one that works for your foot.

It does have a lot to do with the shoe. I live in a small area and only two brands are avaliable if you buy from a store (and you have to travel an hour to get to the store). I have found that I cannot wear bloch they do not help me in anyway. It truly has a lot to do with brand.
