Standing en pointe is a lot different than just standing with your toes unsupported. It may be easier for you on pointe- you might have high arches or strong feet in general. Just know that you might not go on pointe for a while when you start.

I'm thinkin of starting Ballet too. I used to do it when I was a lot younger and now I'm 16. I've become obsessed by how amazing it is and would love to get involved. I'm in the same situation as you and am thinking of joining a class. Go to a few classes first and improve on technique and learn basic ballet :)

It does seem like your ankles are really strong, which is a good sign. And, it is never to late to give up! You should sign up for a beginning class! Good Luck!

You were standing en pointe wearing no shoes? Do you mean standing on your toes because there is a difference. It might help you. But something that does help to prepare fo going en pointe would be pointing your toes every day, until it hurts, because that will make your muscles stronger. Good luck! >.0

Well,It may make it easier, just because it is simply easier for some, and more difficult for others. Suprisingly, the ability to stand en pointe without pointe shoes is something many people can do. If you start, you will have to build up strength in your calf muscles, attain good posture, and acheive fairly clean technique, then you should be allowed to start pointe work. But,don't start without a teachers permission, because your teacher had experience and will know best!I hope you have fun with ballet! It's amazing fun! Good Luck and Best Wishes.
