  1. Always practice on wood or marley-like surfaces. Concrete is very bad to dance on as it risks injury to your joints.

    practicing pointe on carpet is not a good idea because it is NOT a flat surface. you could easily end up going onto releve with your ankles not inline, which could cause twised or even sprained ankles.

  4. Please be carefull, it is not a good idea to practice pointe work at home! If you are a beginner it is very easy to wear your shoes in incorrectly (rolling into the big toe, and softning the coner of the block for example). It is easy to learn these bad habits, and it takes a lifetime to heal a broken ankle! If you want to improve your pointe work between classes, streanthen your feet using a thera – band, or by rolling a tennis ball backwards and forwards under foot, using the ankle. You may do more harm than good doing pointe work without supervision of a professional teacher!!!!!!

  5. As most say, I would say wood is befinitely better. My dance studio is wood flooring so that works best for me. (Although i dont have rasin [sorry for spelling haha] , it’s a little slippery at home) Carpet is very hard to find your balance on but if you fall you wont get hurt as bad. Concrete will just tear up your shoes, so I dont recommend doing that.

  6. DON’T DANCE ON CONCRETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its REALLY bad for you feet and can permanently damage your feet. dancing to much on concrete can make it extremely painful to dance and give you huge calluses that also hurt when touched. please be careful and dance on your hardwood floor or not at all!

  7. NEVER dance on pointe at home without supervision. This is extremely important for your safety! You could easily injure youself! If you really want to improve on pointe, work on strengthening your legs, ankles, and feet with a therapy band.
