Starting late …

I know that a lot of other posts like this one have been put up but …
I’m thirteen y/o and I started ballet around four months ago.  For three months I’ve been taking two 1hr30-minute long classes per week.  I really love ballet and the studio I attend is really nice, but it doesn’t seem serious enough.  I think that may be because I’m in the Adult Beginners class.  Do you know if there’s any way I could sort of get to the level most serious ballet students are at my age? I know that it would take a lot of hard work! Thank-you! :)

  1. first of all, let your teacher know you would be interested in a more serious line of study, most teachers assume that late starters aren’t. ask if there are other classes you can take in addition to the classes you are taking now. you should also ask about taking private lessons. you should aslo practice at home. things that most beginners need to work on are straightening their knees, pointing their toes, and standing with your back straight and abdominals pulled in.
    good luck

  2. I think you gotta tell your teacher how you feel. I started late too and everything and you just gotta work sooo hard. If you show how eager you are and really improve your techer should notice how good you are! Youve gotta prove yourself then try get into a higher grade! You need to be pushed and put ina higher grade so if your not happy, just go for it! She can only say no cant she! You have nothing to loose! Im thirteen and now im dancing with 18 y/o’s! Its all about your effort and ability! Love! x

  3. I think that you should take the lesson seriously try to remember what you did in class and practice it at home.Tis would beas if youhad more classes.Since your school is nice you won’t need to search the net in rder to find tips andvideos of exersices like me(I’m as old as you andstarted ballet last year ,the school was auful ,but what can iexpect in Greece? soihad to spend many hours in frontof the screen of my computer only tofind how to do aprouete!) You should try to use ballet in your daily life ,too.e.g.keep your back straight and your abdominals inside when you’re walking. When you’ll have improved your technique just askyour teacherto put you in a more advanced class.
