I agree with Ashley like start with the basic stuff like first, second, third, forth and fifth.
But for chloe DO NOT PUT YOURSELF ON POINTE. you could ruin you chance of even dancing. try finding another school were the training is good and nice teacher.

Nicci,
Yes, I think you could learn the basics on Pointe. But pointe is very hard and if i were you i would take a one week or two week dance class. try private lessons becasue if you are have any trouble the teacher can help you with that. And more lessons you take the better chance of getting in.
I really hope i helped

i am not a dancer im an actor currently takin my national diploma in performin arts which also includes lessons of contemporary dance in which we hav been taught the basics of ballet, i have always thort ballet on pointe is beautiful and now i have been given the option of an acting role for a new play in which i play a ballerina the role requires basics on pointe, the audition isnt for another 3 months of so, do you think i could learn the basics with my dance teacher (who is trained in ballet) in that time?

Chloe, DON'T put yourself on pointe. if you are having problems with your teacher, find another teacher. sometimes poeple just can't get along, and when this happens with a teacher and their student, both they and the rest of the class can have problems. you will be much more successful if you find a teacher with whom you can get along, even though it can be scarry to start at a new studio. I found myself in a simalar situation a few years ago, and I was much happier and got more out of going to class once I switched.
good luck

Start with positions and all the basics, don't try anything though until you've done it in class. As for Chloe, don't train yourself!!! Find another school, any teacher who acts like that can't exactly be a very good teacher, don't pay her to be a b***h to you!!!

You are going on pointe but don't know where to start, that's normal, but your teacher should know, unless you are buying shoes and have decided to start preparing by yourself!!! Once again -- preparation for pointe starts from your first ballet class, not a few months before you buy your first pair of shoes. Correct technique, strong muscles that include your back and stomach, not just your legs, are what will prepare you for pointe, and allow you to releve that extra bit off demi pointe. Hopefully you have been working on a high a demi pointe as you possibly can during your previous training. If you have been dancing since you were three it should not be a problem! Standing in positions is not really any advantage, just go to your first class and dive in. Good luck!

As with anything, start with the basics. For a while only work in your shoes in class, because if you try to wear them around your house or anywhere where you're not watched by a teacher you could injure yourself. However, to prepare yourself for them, it's releve, releve, releve. Also, if you have a theraband, you can just pointe and flex against it to work on your point. Have fun! I remember my first shoes...
