It's hard to say how much you would need to shoot for. Try to excersise every other day, and eat healthy(shoot for a balanced diet!!) if its a holiday, don't worry about what you eat and don't later worry about losing that weight!! The most important thing is DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF!!!! Your 14, you shouldn't have to worry about your weight until your much older! ;) do not obsess about this or worry:)

I have been overweight my entire life, but I have the best technique in my entire age group, therefore I get more solos and spotlight roles! It doesn't matter how much you weigh as long as you put your heart and soul into ballet!

Sadly the world of ballet is a very cruel place and you just have to be skinny. 5'5" and 82lbs is too skinny though. I am 5'1" and 87lbs. You should probably aim for no higher than 100lbs at your height. Don't starve yourself though. With eating healthy and excersizing you should lose weight pretty quickly I guess.

It really doesn't matter how much you weigh, as long as you are healthy. Eat healthy ( lots of vegetables, fruit, and whole grains) and excercize ( at least 4 times a week for at least 20 minutes but more then 20 is best.) of course, you should also have sweets and junk food, but only once in a while , no more then twice a week ( sometimes three depending on what it is). Or if its something really small like a small cookie you can have one everyday, but keep it to one and make 98% of everything you eat healthy. If its the holidays, though, dont worry about what you eat. If you are a little overweight just follow those rules and you'll become healthier. It won't happen right away but overtime it will. I was 125 pounds in January and I'm 13 and 5'5. For my body type I was overweight and only ate junk. But then I started eating healthy and excercizing and now I'm 105 pounds! It takes a lot of willpower and hardwork but you can do it! Don't starve yourself or lose weight unhealthily, you can still eat just as much ( unless your overeat) but just make the right choices. Hope this helps!

Um that isn't really bad because I did ballet since I was 3 years old and now I am 13 5foot7 and 141 pounds and that still doesn't stop me, I'm like the best in my class because I have good technique , don't worry about the weight! My friend it's all about emotion and technique!

I wouldn't diagnose yo with a go weight, but there are definatly other factors to consider. You bust and behind ahould not extend very far out from the rest of your body (same for your tummy) Your limbs shold ve lean and muscualr. If your ankles are feeling more pressure than usual you should also loon into dropping a few pounds.

Hi! So you should be careful about trying to lose weight. One time I tried to lose weight but that caused my dancing levle to go down. If you get hungry, go for a small portion of healthy food. It is better to have a small portion right when you get hungry, than to try to not eat. I am almost 15 and I am 5'5" and 82 pounds. Many pre-pro schools want to have thin, professional looking dancers, but as Susan said, it depends on your natural body type. Also remember that muscle weights more than fat. Calculating your bmi can help. Most ballet dancers are under the 15th percent. (Also a ballerina is a selected dancer in the company, some companies don't even have one) Some dancers don't have a balanchine body but they can still go professional! ~Hannah

As long as you are dancing (or other exercise) quite a bit its not something I would worry about, you will build muscle.
