When to start Pointe?Should I approach my teacher and ask to start pointe, or should she approach me when she thinks I’m ready? 3 Comments »RSS feed for comments on this post. TrackBack URI Leave a comment |

I would express interest to my teacher about starting pointe if I were you. My teacher didn’t even know I was interested and so I go put into a class straight away.
If your teacher says to you not yet, ask what you can do to get ready faster for pointe classes and be prepared.
Also, I don’t know your age, but at our studio we’re not allowed to start pointe until 12 years old to protect your bone structure. And RAD Intermediate examination work that includes pointe doesn’t let you enter until you’re aged 14 for the same reason.
Hope you get on pointe real soon!

Good advice from Rachel. Showing interest and being willing to work is a good way to be. Be patient. do releves, use resist-a-bands or a towel to develop foot strength. hold it under your arch and flex and point. Good luck!
